Submissions for the 10th International Mobile Innovation Screening &
Festival

The Mobile Innovation Network and Association, MINA, will present a
public screening of smartphone, mobile and pocket films at IMSC,
International Mobile Storytelling Congress, at the University of
Nottingham Ningbo China (13-15 November 2021) and in Australia and New
Zealand via Urban Screen TV.
MINA is the longest running film festival dedicated to celebrating
mobile and smartphone film-making in the Southern Hemisphere. MINA
creates connections between filmmakers, communities and the creative
industries.
The #MINA2021 International Mobile Innovation Screening will showcase
short films (8 min maximum duration) produced on and with smartphones,
mobile and pocket cameras. In the last 10 years MINA featured new
developments in storytelling, non-narrative forms and explorations,
documentary, experimental and abstract mobile and smartphone
filmmaking. In 2017 MINA successfully introduced drone cinematography
and in 2018 Cinematic VR productions as part of the International
Mobile Innovation Screening program. Mobile XR and drone projects can
include project showcase and documentation videos (maximum duration
4min).
Submission categories for MINA X:
- Mobile, Smartphone and Pocket Film: - an open call for mobile,
smartphone and pocket film
- New Voices: Next Generation smartphone filmmakers - a special
category for young and emerging smartphone filmmakers (including
students).
- Mobile Cinematic VR & 360° Video Production: The Future is Now - a
category for Cinematic VR and 360° Video Production.
- Mobile AR, Mobile XR, MoJo, drone videos, Mobile Storytelling, Mobile
Social Media, micro-movies & micro-formats - the category including but
not limited to mobile XR, live streaming, mobile social media apps,
drones and other pocket cameras (such as GoPro) & mobile devices.
- #EcoSmartphoneFilms - a new category for stories about all kinds of
environmental issues in the form of eco-centered short fiction and
non-fiction videos, all shot on mobile.
- Containing COVID-19 - A special themed category for personal stories
about the COVID-19 pandemic and the global efforts to contain the virus
as they have been widely documented by digital storytellers, mobile and
smartphone filmmakers around the world.
