Hi all,
In spite of the current situation, we are attempting to move ahead
with some LTA hires. We hope this message finds everyone safe and
well.

The Department of Communication Studies, Concordia University, invites
applications for 5 limited-term appointments (LTAs) in the following
areas to begin August 1, 2020: Media History and Policy; Media
Production (Sound); Communication Theory and Criticism; Public
Discourse; and Visual Cultural Studies.

Media History and Policy
We seek an individual to teach the following courses in our
undergraduate and graduate programs: History of Communication and
Media (2 sections), Media Institutions and Policy, Approaches to
Communication Research, Media Policy in Canada, and Social Media
Platforms and Policy. The successful candidate must have a PhD in
Communication Studies or a cognate field, evidence of an active
research profile in one of the above areas, and prior university
teaching experience within a Humanities context.

Media Production (Sound)
We seek an individual to teach Communication Media: Sound I (2
sections); Communication Media: Sound II (6-credit course spanning the
Fall and Winter terms), Communication Media: Sound III at the
undergraduate levels, and Media Production: Sound, at the graduate
level. The successful candidate will have an appropriate advanced
degree (e.g. Master’s or PhD), an active research-creation practice
and portfolio, and prior post-secondary teaching experience in a
Humanities context.

Public Discourse
We seek an individual to teach the following courses in our
undergraduate programs:  Propaganda (on-line, 2 sections), Media
Genres, Theories of Public Discourse, Communicative Performances and
Interventions, and Discourses of Dissent.  The successful candidate
must have a PhD in Communication Studies or a cognate field, evidence
of an active research profile in one of the above areas, and prior
university teaching experience within a Humanities context.

Communication Theory and Criticism
We seek an individual to teach the following courses in our
undergraduate and graduate programs:  Effective Communication Skills
(2 sections); Media Criticism; Topics in Media and Cultural History (2
sections); News, Media and Power, and Introduction to Communication
Theory and History. The successful candidate must have a PhD in
Communication Studies or a cognate field, evidence of an active
research profile in media theory and criticism, and prior university
teaching experience within a Humanities context.

Visual Cultural Studies
We seek an individual to teach the following courses in our
undergraduate and graduate program:  Visual Communication and Culture,
Cultures of Globalization, Television Studies, International
Communication, and Semiotics. The successful candidate must have a PhD
in Communication Studies or a cognate field, evidence of an active
research profile in one of the above areas, and prior university
teaching experience within a Humanities context.
