Dear MAB-Community,

We are excited to announce the relaunch our Call for Student Awards and to invite you for our next MAB (online) Meetup coming up on November 11th. This time we want to focus on the future generation of researchers and academics in the field. Find out more details about this event and our current calls below. We are looking forward to your participation!

Last but not least, let's continue to share and increase the awareness about the field of media architecture via the work that we have been developing! So, keep letting us know about your projects, publications & events, and we will showcase them on our MAB-Community section.

** EVENTS

What questions are being asked in the field of Media Architecture and how are researchers trying to answer them?
In our next MAB online meetup, we will bring together early-career researchers from around the world to discuss their research topics and processes, and share their multiple perspectives on the inter-disciplinary field of Media Architecture. Audience members are welcome to join the conversation and ask questions via the Zoom chat. Join us and don't forget to check your timezone!
This event is part of ongoing actions of the MAB to foster the debate of research and education in the media architecture field. This will continue to happen as part of the MAB Academy, which will be launched soon. Stay tuned!

** CALLS

An internationally acclaimed jury will select nominees and winners in five categories. During MAB20, a selection of projects will also be presented in an on-site exhibition and awards will be given out during a special event. We look forward to showcasing your innovative ideas!

This call is for projects that are already built or realized except if your project fits the category 'Future Trends and Prototypes'.

The paper contributions should address current practices, discuss theoretical approaches, or present novel research that explore and further develop our understanding of media architecture through relevant case studies, design processes, and community and industry examples.

BOOK LAUNCH: THE BUILDING AS SCREEN
On November 25th, 17:00 CET, SPUI25 will be hosting a book launch for The Building as Screen: A History, Theory, and Practice of Massive Media (https://facebook.us20.list-manage.com/track/click?u=98b784859935f80b0b03b5324&id=2959c6b2d6&e=e0fc435bb0)  (Amsterdam University Press, 2020), written by MAB's program chair Dave Colangelo. This event will feature a discussion panel, which will explore what are the critical and creative possibilities of large-scale public projections, urban screens, and media architecture -- and the technical and social networks connected to them.[DEL:   :DEL] Taking Colangelo’s book as a starting point, this panel will also consider the role that “massive media” can play in practices of monumentality, public art, and digital placemaking/placekeeping. This is a permanent light-art installation that provides a peaceful and relaxing moment, imprinting a sense of memory into people’s minds. During the day time, rich copper hue polished skins create natural reflections. In the night time, it turns into dynamic ever-changing media content reacting live with intelligent data fed from the environment.
