The Department of Arts, Culture and Media at the University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC) invites applications for a full-time teaching stream position in the area of Critical Digital Methods and Practices. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream with an expected start date of July 1, 2021, or shortly thereafter.



Applicants must have earned a PhD degree in Media Studies or a related area by the time of appointment, or shortly thereafter with a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching. The successful candidate must have a breadth of experience teaching digital design, digital methods, and/or emergent techno-cultural practice. Candidates’ practice may be interdisciplinary, and must demonstrate expertise in one or more of the following areas: critical software studies, critical code studies, critical data studies; platform studies; and/or digital media practices among minoritized communities. Priority will be given to candidates who are proficient in and have demonstrated teaching experience in both applied and critical engagements with digital methods, preferably with expertise in data visualization, data retrieval, and other digital tools.
