Hi, all,

I would just like to say that I have found Documenting the Now
<https://www.docnow.io>'s work and white papers on archival ethics to be
very helpful over the years in my own research. Though an election is not
the same as a social movement, it may be worth consulting Doc Now's "Ethical
Considerations for Archiving Social Media Content Generated by
Contemporary: <https://www.docnow.io/docs/docnow-whitepaper-2018.pdf>Social
Movements: Challenges, Opportunities, and Recommendations
<https://www.docnow.io/docs/docnow-whitepaper-2018.pdf>."

On the matter of how to actually capture Insta stuff, you (and/or your
student) may want to play around with Webrecorder. This project
<https://artsandculture.google.com/exhibit/excellences-perfections-preserving-social-media-with-webrecorder-rhizome/WQJSTPJVh-JgJw?hl=en>which
relied in part on Webrecorder (from a little bit ago) may still be of
interest. Webrecorder has recently undergone a name change and is now
called Conifer, but this link
<https://conifer.rhizome.org/despens/amalia-ulman-excellences--perfections>speaks
to some of the ups and downs of using it. Full disclosure, I've primarily
used Webrecorder/Conifer for Twitter archival work, but if you're working
on a desktop, you may find it useful esp if you're trying to get some video
content.

Best,
Muira
