Speakers
Wenshan Jia, Ph.D. is Professor, School of Communication, Chapman University, USA and is also affiliated with Shandong University. He is an award-winning author and editor of about 10 books and more than 100 articles as well as a noted public affairs commentator. One of his current works is a popular textbook reader titled "Intercultural Communication: Adapting to Emerging Global Realities" (Cognella) .He is also editor of two book series -Chinese Perspectives on Journalism and Communication by Routledge and Belt and Road lnitiative: Interdisciplinary Perspectives by Peter Lang. He is currently writing a book on global communication to be published by Routledge. 
Wanning Sun is a professor of media and communication at the University of Technology Sydney. A Fellow of Australian Academy of Humanities, her research interests include Chinese media and cultural studies, diasporic Chinese media, Chinese media in Australia, and soft power, public diplomacy, and political communication in china.
Gareth Shaw is an independent researcher affiliated with the National Coalition of lndependent Scholars. He received his PhD in Sociology from the University of Nottingham (UK) in 2017. He specializes in discourse analysis and is actively engaged in several projects focusing on China's online discursive spaces. He has a special interest in the use of the internet by China's LGBTQ+ communities, and has previously published on lnternet-based urban mobilization within Chinese environmental health movements and the online distribution of independently-made LGBTQ+ documentaries in China.
Xiaoling Zhang, chair professor in creative industries in the School of international Communications, University of Nottingham Ningbo China, has published widely on China's media, communication and society. In addition to the evolving policies, the development of the industries as part of China's economic development, and the wider social transformation, she also researches on their role in the nation's attempt to refresh its image and to build international soft power.
Fangzhu Lu is a Ph.D. candidate at Renmin University of China. Her research interest lies in political communication, public opinion and international relations.
