[Air-L] Digital Threats and Criminalizing Journalism

Dear Friends & Colleagues,

I thought some of you might find of interest my comments on the
incredibly important new proposals by the UK's Home Office which will shut
down and criminalize investigative journalism on national security and
remove the public interest defence for whistleblowers and leakers as well
as journalists who share what they expose.

I made my comments in response to the public consultation and submitted
them in July and I am now sharing my thoughts with you on Medium. This will
end journalism as we know it in the UK. I sincerely believe it will be
counter-productive in respect to these radicalization issues too and has
important lessons for other nations trying to respond. It's extremely
important that we resist efforts to shut down public scrutiny, please feel
