GESIS - Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences in Cologne, Department Computational Social Science is looking for a

Doctoral Researcher in Computational Social Science (working time 75%, limited to three years)

The position is part of the project "Political polarization and individualized online information environments: A longitudinal tracking study" that is funded by the funding line Leibniz Collaborative Excellence. The project is a collaboration with the Leibniz-Institute for Media Research | Hans-Bredow-Institut in Hamburg, the University of Bremen and the University of Konstanz.

Tasks:
Conducting research on digital media and political polarization
Contributing to the collection and preprocessing of surveys and web tracking data (website visits and content)
Automated text analysis of political online content
Statistical analysis of data collected in the project (web tracking, social media, surveys)
Publications with the principal investigators of the project

Profile:
Master's degree in political science, communication science, survey methodology, statistics or a related discipline
Knowledge of R is required; knowledge of Python is a plus
Experience in automated text analysis
Knowledge in at least one of the following research areas: political communication, digital media, political sociology
Excellent English language skills in speaking and writing; knowledge of German is a plus
