Dear AoIRists,
I have just advertised four Postdoctoral Research Associate jobs at the QUT Digital Media Research Centre in Brisbane, Australia (more details at https://bit.ly/laureateteam). These five-year, full-time jobs will be part of the team of my Australian Laureate Fellowship, a major research project that investigates the drivers and dynamics of partisanship and polarisation in online communication. The project will develop new approaches to assessing a number of key dimensions of polarisation: in the journalistic content produced by different news outlets; in the audiences accessing and engaging with such content; in public debates, on social media platforms and elsewhere, about specific current issues; and in the networks of interconnection and interaction on and across social media platforms. (I've posted some more information about the project at https://snurb.info/laureate.)
For this research, I'm looking for excellent Postdocs with expertise in one of more of the following research areas: journalism studies, media and communication studies, political science, social media analytics, computational social science, computational discourse analysis, social network analysis, issue mapping. The project takes an internationally comparative perspective, so I'm also explicitly interested in applicants from outside of Australia. (COVID-related travel restrictions should no longer be an issue by the time these jobs commence.)
Applications for these positions are now open, and close on 30 January 2022; travel and visa processes permitting, the Postdocs should commence in mid-2022. More information about the application process is at https://bit.ly/laureateteam, where you can also find the full position description for these jobs. Note that applications must include a CV, response to selection criteria, and statement of research interests with respect to the aims of the Laureate project.
I would also be very happy to speak to any prospective candidates ahead of their applications, to discuss their suitability for these positions. I'm away on summer holidays in early December, but will respond to any enquiries in the week before Christmas and during January.
I would also be extremely grateful if you could pass this on to anyone in your networks who might be interested in these positions (or knows people who would be).
Early next year I will also advertise the first four PhD scholarships related to this project, with applications closing in March and the PhD projects commencing in mid-2022. I'll have more details about those PhD opportunities then, but if you know of any prospective PhD students who may be interested in those scholarships please also feel free to direct them to me already. There's a little more information about these at https://snurb.info/laureate, too.
Many thanks in advance for your help with this.
