Tenure-Track Assistant Professor
The Department of Media Studies and Production in the Klein College of
Media and Communication at Temple University invites applications for a
tenure-track assistant professor position in ethnic popular media and
technology. The start date for the position is July 1, 2022, with an
expectation that the successful candidate will have an earned Ph.D. in
Communication or related field by that date.
We seek candidates working in media studies as it intersects with Black
digital culture or Latinx/Latine media and popular culture. Suggested
secondary areas include diaspora studies, postcolonial theory,
infrastructure/institutional studies, ethnomusicology, and critical race studies
Applicants working within qualitative, historical, or anthropological research
frameworks or methods are especially encouraged to apply but all
methodologies and approaches are welcome. The successful candidate will
teach courses at both the undergraduate and graduate level, contribute to a
college-wide Ph.D. program, develop courses within areas of expertise, and
participate as a citizen of the department, college, and university.
The Department of Media Studies and Production (MSP,
http://klein.temple.edu/msp) has about 600 undergraduate majors in three
tracks: Media Production, Media Business, and Media Analysis. The
department also offers a minor in Digital Media Technologies, a 4+1 program
and an M.A. in Media Studies and Production. The MSP faculty contributes
to Klein´s interdisciplinary M.S. in Communication for Development and
Social Change and Ph.D. program in Media and Communication.
The Lew Klein College of Media and Communication is among the largest
comprehensive colleges of communication in the nation. The college enrolls
nearly 3,000 undergraduate students and more than 100 graduate students.
