The Department of Sociological Studies at the University of Sheffield is
looking to make a permanent appointment of a lecturer in Digital Media and
Society. The position is open to candidates with expertise in digital media
in relation to core sociological issues, such as identity, inequality,
diversity, everyday life or work. We particularly welcome applications from
people with expertise in: race, intersectionality and digital media;
Chinese digital and social media; global digital media; or sexuality and
digital media.
This post provides an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and
internationally focused group of scholars, in which you will be supported to
develop your research profile, and to deliver research-led teaching at
undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
You will be expected to teach on or run modules in the broad area of
digital media and society. You will also be expected to make a contribution
to undergraduate and postgraduate dissertation supervision, and to take on
a Departmental administrative role.
You will develop your research profile by applying for research funding,
publishing high quality outputs and/or ensuring impact from your research,
and by supervising research students. You will contribute to the growing
portfolio of digital media and society research within the Department, the
Faculty of Social Sciences, and its allied research centres and networks,
which include the Digital Society Network
