Thank you for your patience with the multiple posts you might see about this 2-year visiting position with Digital and Computational Studies<https://www.bowdoin.edu/digital-and-computational-studies/> at Bowdoin College. Although this is a sabbatical replacement for two digital humanists, we invite applications from scholars across the arts, humanities, and physical and social sciences, who create or critique digital or computational artifacts. The Digital & Computational Studies Program (DCS) at Bowdoin College invites applications for a full-time, visiting assistant professor position in digital humanities, new media arts or studies, computational social sciences, or computational physical sciences to begin July 1, 2023; this position is intended as a 2-year position, contingent upon successful review after an initial one-year appointment. PhD required by the time of appointment. We are especially interested in applicants whose research or artistic practices focus on the critique or creation of digital or computational technologies from a liberal arts perspective. Teaching responsibilities include two courses per semester. Topics for these courses include, but are not limited to a methods course that explores application of a certain technology (i.e. AI, text analysis, data visualization, physical computing, etc.) and an advanced seminar in the candidate’s area of specialization.
