The Department of Communication and Media at the University of Michigan is
hiring an assistant or associate professor to teach and conduct research in

Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will provide graduate and undergraduate students with
the theoretical and methodological foundations to explore experiences or
effects of media and globalization, interaction patterns, and/or
communication technologies, systems, or infrastructures at national,
regional, translocal, and/or transnational scales. This could include
scholarship on historical as well as contemporary aspects of globalization
and on emerging as well as entrenched communication structures and
practices within and between regions, borders, cultures, or across the
global public sphere.
Required Qualifications
A PhD by the start of the appointment is required.
The preferred candidate will demonstrate an innovative research agenda
focused on advancing knowledge of globalization and/or comparative
international media
studies.
Desired Qualifications
We are particularly interested in applicants who use innovative methods and
approaches in their research and teaching, for instance using various
combinations of qualitative and quantitative methods.
