An added note here:
I’ve been looking for applied work for 5 years since I graduated.
I have decades of experience in tech, plus a “new” applied research doctorate.
It has taken me so long because I am trying to work for a place that doesn’t harm people.
Those places pretty much don’t exist. Every entity harms in one way or another, you just have to figure out what you can live with.
My lesson: if you try to work somewhere ethical, you may gain principles, but still go hungry.
