   - Over 1,000 people engaged with the Misinformation Village

   co-hosted by MisinfoCon, last month at DEFCON30. Around two dozen speakers
   from Europe and the US shared paper presentations, technical talks and
   demonstrations of products at the village, and most of the slides can be

   - NYU’s Center for Social Media and Politics and the Torr Vision Group
   at Oxford University designed a framework called SimPPL (simulate people)

   that generates a realistic model of how users make decisions and posting,
   commenting and voting on content on Reddit. It was designed to estimate

Events, funding & deadlines

Some new opportunities:

   - Hacks/Hackers, a global network of journalists, technologists and
   grassroots organizations that explore technical ways to tell stories, is
   hiring a Director of Operations

   to oversee its HR, finance and administrative responsibilities. The job is
   remote, hours are flexible, and salary range is from $80,000 to $100,000.
   - The application window has been extended for WikiCred grants

   between $250 and $10,000, to fund pilot projects that support credibility
   on the internet using Wikimedia data and tools. The CFP is now open through

   - The Social Science Research Council (SSRC) is hiring a two-year
   postdoctoral fellow

   to work with the Just Tech and Media and Democracy teams in Brooklyn, NY.
   The position is part of the Data Fluencies project
