Following the successful pilot of an interdisciplinary course combining Asian American studies with scientific fields of inquiry, Yale invites applicants for a renewable one-year interdisciplinary postdoctoral fellowship beginning in Fall 2023 to promote teaching and research at the intersection of Asian American studies and STEM fields.  The postdoctoral fellowship will be housed at the Center for Race, Indigeneity, and Transnational Migration or an affiliated department such as the program of American Studies or Ethnicity, Race, and Migration (ERM); or a STEM department such as physics or computer science.


The postdoctoral associate will participate fully in the intellectual life of RITM and affiliated program or department and teach one course per semester.  In addition, the postdoctoral associate will work with faculty and graduate students to organize a two-day conference on “Asian Americans and STEM” to be hosted by RITM in spring of 2024.  The conference will bring together scholars in the field of Asian American studies as well as STEM research scientists who are actively engaged in exploring the histories of race and racialization in their respective fields.


This position has an annual salary of $65,000 plus benefits, additional funds for conference travel, full access to the Yale University libraries, and a laptop. Qualifications

The successful candidate will likely have (a) a recent (4-years) PhD degree in Asian-American Studies, American Studies, History of Science and Technology Studies, or any STEM field; (b) a track record of research productivity, as evidenced by first authored original publications in high quality peer-reviewed journals; (c) independence to lead a project as well as willingness to work in a team; (d) an open mind to learn new methods from collaborators and € good presentation and writing skills. Salary and benefits are according to Yale guidelines.
