Dear all

Apologies for cross-posting.

Very pleased to invite applications for full-time postdoctoral positions in
the new European Research Council Consolidator Project on small social
media platforms (2024-2029), which I will soon set up at LMU Munich,

SMALLPLATFORMS will explore small social media platforms (beyond the big
tech) in a cross-cultural context, examining whether and in what ways forms
of contentious speech are associated with practices particular to such
platforms. Fieldwork will be carried out in Germany, Kenya, India, and the
UK. The study combines ethnography, content analysis, critical discourse
analysis and computational methods (NLP and social network analysis). It
will simultaneously engage in theoretical, empirical and policy discussions
around small social media platforms’ evolving role in extreme speech
ecosystems.
