Hi everyone,
We are organising a 1-day workshop at CSCW on mapping human labour in the
AI pipeline that will take place on November 9, in San Jose, Costa Rica. If
you’re interested in studies of the different forms of labours that make up
AI and algorithmic systems, we invite you to join our workshop!
The workshop will consist of activities centred on mapping (Marres, 2015)
and capturing multiple and diverse standpoints to develop a shared account
of the human labour across different sites and categories of work in the AI
pipeline. Take a look at the complete description and workshop themes on
our website: https://globaltechandsociety.red/mapping-labour/
We invite submissions that speak to the themes of the workshop. A range of
submission formats including position papers, white paper, design
portfolio, reports of ongoing empirical work, preliminary results,
theoretical and methodological reflections are welcome. Submissions will be
lightly reviewed and we especially encourage submissions from a diverse
community of scholarship and practice.

We have a first deadline of August 20 to support those who may need an
early decision to plan conference attendance. The deadline for the second
round of submissions is September 20.
We look forward to your submissions and engaging with you at the workshop!
If you have any questions or suggestions for the workshop, please reach out
to me (srravya.c at ed.ac.uk) or one of the other workshop organisers.
Best,
Srravya (along with workshop co-organisers Airi Lampinen, Rob Comber, Naja
Holten Møller and Alex Taylor)
