Dear AoIR colleagues,
Could you please recommend reliable sources explaining TikTok metrics? Or, share the answers if you happen to know more about this topic... In particular, I am interested in the following:
*
On a TikTok account homepage, after using the tab "Popular" to order the videos, they are still not ordered in descending order (from most to least popular); rather, a video with 1.8 million views comes before one with 8 million views.
*
Do we know what the total number at the bottom left of each TikTok video on the account homepage represents? I understand it is the total number of views for the video in question, but I am unclear on whether this number represents any view (for example, the first 5 seconds) or a complete view (i.e., from start to end).
Pointing me in the right direction on these topics would be appreciated. If you have published on politicians and TikTok, or if you have done research using TikTok account homepages, please consider emailing me the link or the PDF of your publication.
Thank you
Delia
