Exploring New Formations of Gender, Race, and Sexuality within Artificial
Identities

*When:* Thursday, February 27th, 2025

*Where:* Virtual event hosted by the University of Texas at Austin,
supported by Good Systems

*Submission Timeline:*

   - *Abstract Due Date:* Sunday, December 1st, 2024

*About the Conference:*

Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies are shaping numerous aspects of
life, becoming one of the most transformative forces of our time (Smuha,
2021). These systems operate within frameworks that can reinforce
signifiers of race, gender, and sexuality, often disrupting, renegotiating,
or reinforcing existing power dynamics (Hall, 2021; Wilcox, 2017; Noble,
2018). This virtual mini-conference brings together scholars from the
humanities, social sciences, and computer science to examine how generative
AI affects marginalized communities, exploring how “artificial identities”
reshape power structures in digital spaces.
