Want to learn insider tips about how to craft a successful Ph.D.
application? The University of Maryland's Philip Merrill College of
Journalism will host a one-hour Zoom session to highlight common mistakes
and share good ways to apply to a Ph.D. program in journalism and
communication studies. We'll hold a one-hour session on Monday Oct 21 at 9

The discussion will include how to research programs as well as how to
contact potential supervisors and programs. While you will have the
opportunity to learn about Merrill College's Journalism Studies Ph.D.

session is designed to help applicants understand the overall process and
avoid common pitfalls no matter where you apply. (Our first tip: Don’t
apply to just one program!)

The program will be hosted by me, as I am the Merrill PhD director. A lot
of our dissertations now involve topics that interest AoIR members -- and
I'm not shy about recommending the great program at our iSchool as well!
