Hi All,

I’m excited to share our new report “Covert Campaigns: Safeguarding
Encrypted Messaging Platforms from Voter Manipulation

We draw on interview data from across seventeen counties and a survey of
4,500 messaging app users across nine countries to surface mechanisms of
propaganda and electoral tampering on platforms from WhatsApp to Telegram.
We then present a number of technical, educational, and policy-based
solutions.  Thank you to my co-authors Inga Trauthig and Mariana Olaizola
Rosenblat and the teams at NYU Stern’s Center for Business and Human
Right’s and UT Austin’s Center for Media Engagement. Thanks also to
