World AIDS Day | DoxyPEP in the UK: hopes and concerns for implementation

To mark World AIDS Day, the Centre for Biomedicine, Self and Society at the
University of Edinburgh will hold an expert roundtable about the emergence
of the STI prevention tool doxycycline prophylaxis (DoxyPEP) in UK sexual
healthcare. With current debates about whether and how implement DoxyPEP in
the UK, there are a lot of hopes, such as reduction of common STIs, and
concerns, including anti-microbial resistance and healthcare costs, at play.

Join us in this roundtable with key voices to discuss these issues and
understand what a multidisciplinary approach to DoxyPEP implementation may
look like. In this event, speakers from across clinical, research, and
community spaces will discuss their ideas about the implementation of
DoxyPEP in the UK, and you will have a chance to ask your own questions.

The event will be held online on 29 November 10:00am to 11:30am UK time
(GMT).

This event is supported by the Viral Memories project, funded by the
Economic and Social Research Council (ES/003604/1).

Speakers include:

   - Claire Dewsnap: Consultant physician in genitourinary medicine and
Immediate Past President of the British Association of Sexual Health and
   HIV.
   - Manik Kohli: Sexual Health doctor and NIHR doctoral fellow at UCL
   exploring DoxyPEP
   - John Gilmore: Lecturer in Nursing at UCD focusing on social justice
and the healthcare needs of LGBT+ communities.
   - Benjamin Weil: Head of research and community knowledge generation for
   The Love Tank.
