Dear AoIRers,
We are delighted to invite EOIs for a full-funded PhD scholarship to join our interdisciplinary DeathTech Research team<https://deathtech.research.unimelb.edu.au/#tab19> working on a project investigating Do-It-Yourself Commemoration of the Dead.
The successful applicant will commence in January 2026, and work closely with key members of the research team located in the Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) group in the School of Computing and Information Systems at the University of Melbourne.
The PhD research project will focus on the design, use and social impacts of emerging digital technologies for commemoration and memorialisation of the dead. Applicants from both applied and theoretical domains of technology use or design, and with interdisciplinary approaches or methods are welcome. Projects may explore the contexts in which people engage with technology, critically assess existing tools, propose (re)designs or new technologies, and/or conduct user-experience and co-design research.
Full details about the application can be found here:

The deadline for EOIs is May 31, 2025.
