Dear Colleagues,
I hope this email finds you well! I am writing to announce the publication
of my book entitled Psychological Processes in Social Media: Why We Click.
<https://shop.elsevier.com/books/psychological-processes-in-social-media/guadagno/978-0-12-811320-2>
In this book, I focus on the question of how social media use reflects and
affects us psychologically. Psychological Processes in Social Media: Why We
Click was born out of a deep curiosity about the underlying mechanisms that
govern our online behaviors. As an academic, I have spent more than 20
years studying the intersection of psychology and technology, observing how
the rise of social media and other internet technologies have transformed
human interactions in ways both profound and subtle. This book is the
culmination of that research—a comprehensive exploration of the cognitive
and emotional triggers that make social media such a powerful force in our
lives.
Throughout this work, I draw on a diverse range of studies and theories to
dissect the psychological processes at play in our digital engagements.
>From the gratification of instant feedback to the social validation of
likes and shares, each chapter delves into a specific aspect of social
media interaction, offering insights into why we are so captivated by these
platforms. By understanding these processes, I think we can better navigate
the digital landscape, making more informed choices about how we use social
media and how it influences our lives.
Specific topics I cover include: self-esteem and self-presentation,
personality, romantic relationships, virality, disinformation, aggression,
gender and culture, and well-being.
Please consider adopting it for your courses or requesting it for your
instituation's library. Many thanks!
Best,
Rosanna
