<https://nam11.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.4sonline.org%2Faccepted_open_panels_seattle.php&data=05%7C02%7Czlkatz%40arizona.edu%7C90283c3ce0f14024bf2a08dd3746b7f6%7C5ee35505eb8e4929937d645df5013288%7C1%7C0%7C638727499205649494%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJFbXB0eU1hcGkiOnRydWUsIlYiOiIwLjAuMDAwMCIsIlAiOiJXaW4zMiIsIkFOIjoiTWFpbCIsIldUIjoyfQ%3D%3D%7C0%7C%7C%7C&sdata=7iV7C0vfjlWHIfIm0S61H8hPF7U5%2B8rVxvOgUlHEDQU%3D&reserved=0>.*

We welcome reflections upon how archives, archival silences, archival
practices, and/or archivally-mediated identities reveal the interconnection
between ways of knowing and ways of being in sites and communities of
interest. *Due: *Jan 31, 2025.

*Summary: *Archives, as institutions, provide the symbolic and
sociotechnical infrastructure for the selection, storage, description, and
retrieval of records. But archival ingest has traditionally only supported
particular Western forms of knowledge (records, texts, audio recordings,
moving images, etc.) to the detriment of other knowledge systems and ways
of being. We invite scholars to present completed or in-progress work on
any of the following or related topics:

   - Racial equity and justice
   - Queer & gender archives
   - Indigenous data sovereignty
   - Scientific data
   - Religious/spiritual
   - Anomalous phenomena
   - Government & official
   - Restorative interventions

Accepted panelists will be invited to contribute materials to a 4S
workshop. Workshop participants will conduct comparative analyses of their
selected artifacts and will be invited to contribute to a collaboratively
authored whitepaper after the conference.
