Dear AoIR Community,

The *"S.HI.E.L.D. vs Disinformation” Erasmus+ Project* is pleased to
announce the Call for Papers for the International Conference *"Revisiting
Disinformation: Critical Media Literacy Approaches"* which will take place
at the University Campus of Gallos at Rethymno, Crete, Greece, on *Friday,
27th June 2025, and Saturday, 28th June 2025*.

In an era where digital platforms and artificial intelligence (AI)
facilitate the rapid spread of false information, the impact of
disinformation should not be underestimated as it increasingly threatens
democracy, citizenship, and human rights. Therefore, the conference
"Revisiting Disinformation: Critical Media Literacy Approaches" offers a
critical space to explore the mechanisms behind disinformation, its
psychological and behavioral dimensions, and the global and technological
contexts in which it proliferates. By addressing legal, ethical, and
educational responses, the conference aims to foster strategies to counter
disinformation and promote media literacy, equipping society to navigate
the complexities of the digital age.

We invite paper submissions that engage with the topic of disinformation
and its multifaceted implications. Submissions may address, but are not
limited to, the following themes:

   - Democracy, citizenship, and human rights
   - Cybersecurity
   - Legal and ethical aspects, and policy responses to disinformation
   - Agents and mechanisms of disinformation dissemination
   - Biases and polarization
   - Social media, digital platforms, and fact-checking tools
   - Artificial Intelligence (AI)
   - Science and disinformation
   - Impact of disinformation on society and education

   - Media literacy as a tool to combat disinformation
   - Technological aspects of disinformation
   - Disinformation in global contexts: Geopolitical and cultural
   perspectives
