ASIS&T SIG-AI Symposium "Investigating Interdisciplinary Approaches to Responsible and Ethical AI: Challenges and Opportunities"
Friday, November 14, 2025 | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Crystal City, Virginia | Pre-Conference Event at the ASIS&T Annual Meeting
SIG-AI calls for a proposal for the ASIS&T SIG-AI Symposium, Investigating Interdisciplinary Approaches to Responsible and Ethical AI: Challenges and Opportunities. This symposium aims to bring together researchers and practitioners to critically examine the challenges and opportunities presented by AI-driven technologies. Through case studies, interactive discussions, and collaborative activities, participants will work together to develop a comprehensive roadmap for an interdisciplinary approach to the responsible, fair, and ethical advancement of AI.
The key questions guiding this symposium are:
What constitutes an effective interdisciplinary approach to the development of responsible AI?
How can we ensure accountability, transparency, and explainability in AI-driven information services and practices?
How can we address the environmental impacts of AI applications and/or solutions?
What design principles should guide AI development to uphold human values and rights while ensuring equitable and fair access to information?
How can information professionals contribute to ensuring fair and equitable access to information sources and services while also addressing the digital divide that is further exacerbated by rapidly advancing AI technologies?
Who Should Submit?
We encourage submissions from a wide range of voices, including scholars, practitioners, students, and first-time ASIS&T presenters.
