Dear AoIR community,
I'm very proud to announce that my new book 'Researching Digital Society - An Introduction' is now available for purchase with SAGE.
Details of the book, along with a preview, are available here (https://uk.sagepub.com/en-gb/eur/researching-digital-society/book281472).
It's a comprehensive textbook that explores current research, methods, and theories for understanding digital technologies & their impacts on society. If you know anyone beginning a journey into digital research, this is the book for them!
It's a broad introduction to digital research that covers a range of exciting topics and foundational issues, like:
* Ethics in digital research
* Emerging methods and traditional methods in digital research
* Choosing participants and the importance of critically resisting how 'big tech' companies define digital platforms
* Emerging areas of research like platformisation and datafication of daily life, digital materiality and touch, the role of social media in amplifying and minimising different social realities in tension with users, and digital inequalities through GenAI and other new technologies
* Key topics for digital research including digital communities, digital identities, and digital intimacies, and digital activism
* Pathways for future research that position digital research as an inherently political act of praxis
And much more!
I'm really excited to see it out in the world and I would love to give some book talks and whatever else might seem appropriate - please get in touch if you're interested!
Best wishes,
Harry
