Dear Friends,

The Technology, Internet, & Policy Group (TIP - https://psatip.uk/) at the UK’s Political Studies Association are hosting a free joint research/policy workshop with Ofcom (the UK’s broadcasting, internet, & telecommunications regulator) on the 19th November, which I think is relevant to many of you. If you’re able to make it, I strongly recommend it. The registration date is soon, so please apply early.

Apply to the Ofcom x TIP Policy Workshop in London: future directions for academic research, 19th November (DEADLINE 24th October)

## Ofcom and the Political Studies Association’s Technology, Internet and Policy group (TIP) are teaming up to deliver an event focusing on academic research in online safety technology and policy.

Ofcom’s role is central to how the United Kingdom’s communications, media, and online sectors are regulated. In this capacity, it works with a range of stakeholders, including academics, as part of their knowledge exchange process to inform policy decisions. This event invites you to explore how you can take part in this process with your research to expand the impact of your work, potentially present your work on the day, and create links for future research impact.

Participation is free, and on the day, catering will be provided.

The event will be structured across three key areas:
• Share research interests and ideas
• Learn about Ofcom’s research priorities and approaches to academic engagement
• Network with peers to foster future collaborations

Date: Wednesday 19 November, 11:00 - 16:00
Location: Ofcom’s London office, Riverside House

There are a small number of travel bursaries for early career attendees provided by the Technology, Internet and Policy (TIP) group and the Political Studies Association to support with travel costs to London. Please select this option with your submission if you wish to be considered.

As places are limited, interested participants are invited to complete the short form below outlining their research interests. If the event is oversubscribed, attendance will be prioritised for researchers with the most relevant interest to core Ofcom areas (https://www.ofcom.org.uk/siteassets/resources/documents/research-and-data/online-research/agenda/online-safety-research-agenda.pdf). Please note that participation is restricted to academic researchers.

The deadline for submissions is 24 October, and spaces will be confirmed by 31 October.
