Dear Colleagues,
I just wanted to share that last month I was invited by the New Zealand
Parliament's Education and Workforce Committee to submit written evidence
in their “inquiry into the harm young New Zealanders encounter online" - as
they consider bringing in age restrictions and an under-16 ban similar to
the new rules being introduced in countries like the UK and Australia.
My statement on this has now published here
https://www.parliament.nz/en/pb/sc/scl/education-and-workforce/tab/submissionsandadvice?criteria.Keyword=briant&criteria.Timeframe=&criteria.DateFrom=&criteria.DateTo=&parliamentStartDate=&parliamentEndDate=&criteria.DocumentStatus=
and on that basis, I have now been invited to give oral testimony at a
hearing on 8th September 10.05 local time, I'll be doing this over zoom. I
hope these comments are useful for you.
Best wishes,
Emma
