Fully funded MPhil Scholarship - Generative AI and Academic Writing & Publishing - Queensland University of Technology, Australia
Queensland University of Technology (Australia) is offering a fully funded MPhil scholarship to investigate generative AI platforms and their impact on academic writing and publishing. This research-oriented project will critically examine how AI tools are transforming academic work practices.
Scholarship:
* Full tuition coverage plus $37,010 AUD annual stipend for 1.75 years
* Start date: February 2026
* Application deadline: 28 September 2025
* Based at QUT's Digital Media Research Centre, Brisbane
* Supervised by Dr. Kevin Witzenberger, Prof. Jean Burgess & Dr. Aaron Snoswell
Research Focus: The project will use adapted walkthrough methods to examine research-oriented AI platforms (such as ChatGPT's deep research function, Consensus, Research Rabbit) and assess alignment between platform marketing, actual affordances, and institutional policies governing their use in academic contexts.
Ideal Candidate:
* Bachelor's degree with strong GPA in relevant discipline
* Interest in digital communication/media research
* Experience with critical or qualitative digital research methods preferred
* Strong research potential and writing skills
