Hi everyone,
The University of Virginia’s Department of Media Studies invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Media Studies on the academic general faculty, with an expected start date of August 10, 2026. We are particularly interested in candidates who can teach introductory courses in media studies, film and television studies, streaming, media history, and global media studies. The core responsibilities of this position include teaching six courses per year, three each during the spring and fall terms. This is a three-year, tenure-ineligible appointment with the possibility of renewal, but not a guarantee.

Qualifications:
To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, applicants should hold a PhD.
The preferred applicant will hold a PhD at the time of the appointment in Media Studies or a related field of study, such as Communication, Journalism, Digital Media, Technology Studies, Cultural Studies, or other related fields.
