Hello everyone,

There are only a few days left before the submission deadline for the *36th
International Society for Humor Studies Annual Conference*, which will take
place in Niterói, at UFF, from July 6 to 10, 2026.

Detailed information about fees, submission formats, and the submission
timeline is available on the official conference website: ishs2026.org.

This will be the first time that the ISHS annual conference is held in
Brazil, in Latin America, and in the Global South, which makes this edition
particularly significant for researchers in the region. The International
Society for Humor Studies (ISHS) is the leading academic association
dedicated to promoting interdisciplinary research on humor in its many
dimensions. The conference brings together scholars from a wide range of
fields, including communication, psychology, sociology, linguistics,
philosophy, law, the arts, education, and health, who are interested in
understanding humor in its cultural, psychosocial, and political
manifestations.

ISHS 2026 includes three submission formats: papers, panels, and
roundtables. *Submissions for all three formats close on March 27*.

The conference will also feature awards for best paper, best presentation,
and best dissertation, including a new award for the best dissertation
written in Portuguese. In addition, several affirmative policies aimed at
supporting scholars from the Global South are planned, including reduced
registration fees, simultaneous translation in selected sessions, panels in
Portuguese, and a hybrid pre-conference event with limited capacity.
