The Department of Telecommunications at Penn State has a job opening at
the assistant professor level. I think we have an excellent faculty
and we offer both a Master's and a Ph.D. degree in addition to our
undergraduate program. The College of Communications is very
eclectic and we embrace all methodologies and perspectives. We also
get wonderful institutional support. In short, I think this is a great
place to work and grow as a scholar. Many of us in the department
(and university) are conducting Internet related research, and there are
many opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration.<br>

The Department of Telecommunications at Penn State is seeking candidates
for a tenure-track assistant professor position to start August
2004. Candidates should have teaching interests and an active
research agenda in the telecommunications and information industries,
management, economics, law/policy, or "Information Society"
issues at the macro level. The department values qualitative,
quantitative, legal, and historical approaches to scholarly questions in
telecommunications. Our definition of telecommunications
encompasses all forms of electronic media, including radio and television
broadcasting, cable, satellite, Internet and telephone sectors. A
Ph.D. is preferred but ABD candidates will be considered.

In addition to an active research agenda, the department places strong
emphasis on teaching and service; candidates should be committed to
