  I just saw another article in the new Jan 2007 edition of the magazine (not yet online) today ---about Science of Happiness and Joy -- Positive Pyschology.
  They  (new psychologists) talked the opposite of what Freud said --that religion is delusion -- they say that we should look at why some are so uplifted by meditation and prayer. The positive effects. They said we should look at how "joy" is all about connections --and how mystics get positive vibes by connecting with a higher power.
  I wonder how many secular psychologists agree.

  Anyhow today I learnt ( from his mother) that my Los Angeles based Harvard sponsor Dr Kamal Kejriwal MD got his residency at Lousiana (after a 2 year struggle) just after his parents had prayed at the Himalayan  shrine of Vaishno Devi. Now he is going to visit the shrine (with his family) on his coming India trip even before he goes home.  So it seems that besides just joy sometimes prayer has other benefits also.
   
  Any comments on Happiness, prayer etc?
