Zubeen-Manash number on Rongmon set to weave magic

  GUWAHATI, Dec 26 – Ricky Martin created a rage during the 2002 FIFA World Cup with his World Cup anthem Ole Ole Ole and regional industry’s most bankable singer-composer duo of Zubeen Garg and Manash Rabin is gearing up to create ripples of identical intensity ahead of the 33rd edition of the National Games with a special composition on Games mascot Rongmon. This special composition will strive to bring into fore the ancient bonding of Asomiya community with sports, be it through the first sports pavilion of the country in the form of Rangghar erected by Ahom Kings, the very talented swimmer in Srimanta Sankardev, founder of Vaishnav Dharma, or the traditional elephant and bull fight. The lyrics of the song is:

Though it would be too early to tag it as a theme or official song, however if the song manages to weave its magic among the music buffs and sports lovers in general then there is every possibility that a brand new album will be launched. The duo has already given a series of hits in the current and previous years.

Member of the National Games celebration committee Gautom Bora informed, “Though I have not heard the lyrics of the fresh composition by Manash Rabin, yet it would definitely be in our scheme of things for the inaugural and closing ceremony of the National Games. Bombay based event management group Wizcraft has been entrusted the job to conduct both the inaugural and the closing ceremony of the National Games. 

“As it is a Rongmon-centric number, it will definitely be used in an innovative way to make it more popular among the masses and already moves are being initiated in this regard,” Bora said. Bora further informed that there would be a solo program for State’s numero uno singer Zubeen Garg as well. The celebration committee has also proposed to organize a musical show with Dada Saheb Phalke Award winner Dr Bhupen Hazarika along with all the leading artistes of the State but Hazarika’s consent is still awaited. Bora further informed that a parade would also be organized taking all the leading athlete and artists of the State during the inaugural day.

Meanwhile, composer Manash Rabin has finished the composition of the track and Garg is likely to lend his voice tomorrow.

Talking to The Assam Tribune Manash Rabin said that the track has come up well and it would definitely touch the heart of the sports lovers and the music buffs in general. On the song he said, “ I have tried to incorporate a touch of Northeast folk music in a minimal manner as the song is of just five minute duration.” “The song begins with Bihu flavour and ends in as western note,” revealed Rabin. 

“Apart from the fact that the number will showcase Northeast and Asom in particular, it also dwells on the special feelings that the Games will bring for the people,’ the noted music director pointed. 

It may be mentioned here that popular singer Zubeen Garg who shot into fame after his Bollywood chartbuster Ya Ali had already recorded a song for National Games in 2005 but the song has become irrelevant with the passage of time.

Popular singer Sangeeta Kakati has also lent her voice for some of the numbers composed specifically for the National Games.  

Prateek Hajela, convenor of media and publicity cell for the National Games said, “ We are looking into various options to use the song so that it becomes a memorable part of the entertainment fabric of the entire event including the inaugural function.” 

“If it is accepted by the people then we will not even hesitate to bring out a music album which might also include other National Games songs but as of now we have decided to use it during the road shows and other promotional activities,” he informed.
