So Bush should be thankful to Osama and Saddam to have given him this excuse?

If it is not clear to anybody, the actual reason for for to war with Iraq, in my view, was for the USA and UK to establish its eventual control in the middle east and thus in the world for the control of oil.
  The rests are excuse.

There was no history of the existence of such weapons -having ever been in existence.

There was indeed history that Iraq then was openly rewarding suicide bombers in Palestine (as did many other nations in the Middle East -like in Qatar even my landlord -hailing fro India had to pay $200 pa to support Chechneya rebels in a govt run company) - giving thousands of dollars to those who died as jihadis - to fight against Israel.

US needed to fight war on terror (after Sep 11) --in the heart of the problem -Middle East -where even now top Saudi muslim clerics denounce US etc -as during i think Condo Rice's visit this year. Afghanistan has no rich supporters nearby-mostly remote like Artic circle. Iraq is in the Middle East -was openly defiant against US and openly supporting terrorists against Israel.

The hotbed was in Middle East -and in SE and South Asia -with muslim minority India, Singapore, Thaliand then feeling the brunt. Then Jihadi muslims impudently hijacking Delhi bound Indian Arirlines plane from Nepal --taking it to Afghanistan -after a short hop in Pakistan in Dec 1999 - and getting their 5 hard core leaders released in return -after killing a man returning with his wife from honeymoon in Nepal: India watching helplessly.

There was no help nearby: Bangladesh , Pakistan -both with Islamic fundamentalists as dominant minority (with India already smarting from Kargil [Kashmir] war six months previously with Pakistan's current Prez's behest- in May 1999-stopped by Bill Clinton's intervention forcing Pak to take back its troops). Afghanistan was more like a backwater where all sorts of fungi grow up -with germs orginating and coming from elsewhere.

Any comments on how the war on terror would have played out if there had been no active US military presence in Middle East ? Would the Arab nations and Iran etc been eager to hand over the jihadis to US//UK/UN etc?

Would India have been safer then? Would we have seen lesser scenes like Delhi bombings etc which killed 50 people?

Secondar school ednrolmment is only 30% and highre education even worse. I winder Iraqi minister thinks Iraq's glory days are over after 2003.

It seems the illiterate adults turned jihadis are fightining the US army.

  Any comments?
