Last night I heard of WashFM -that Oscar Wilde said ' Man wants to be her first love and a woman wants to his last romance."

Quite touching. However, what about the third kind who are popular with Oscar guys these days.

PS: Needless to say as I mentioned before my debalces in India have put me off romance with any Indian origin girls of any kind. My current efforts with someone from my class seem to be picking up - if i can put in some months - beyond my visa expiry on June 30th, 2006. Lets see about the H-1B - issue.
I was putting it off till March to drive a hard bargain with these contractors who can really give you a pittance - now with March ending - they are like the Insurnace agents -eager to make the last deal before the financial year changes - sio I imagine. And so would immigration officials.

The above two are of communists in USA - I got the weblinks from their paper editions circulated free at Univ. of Maryland, College park, USA. It seems the communists everywhere share the ideology - their voice in India or US are exactly the same. Mao- as my father said believed " Power flows from the barrel of a gun." And thats these US mags write in their pages.

However, in the "Art of War" written over two thousand years ago by a Chinese military general Sun Tzu - War is the last resort - a sort of defeat of the strategist. Business execs -read this book - and use its techniques - i first read about Sun Tzu from a Harvard Business Review artilce in 1990s -on the ten steps for a perfect startegy- from the American Center Library in Delhi - while doing my MBA from Hindu Inst. of Management, Sonipat.

It seems Mao never read or followed Sun Tzu -his compatriot - and promoted gun before all other measures. Gun defeats the purpose itself.

PS: Tips to go abroad for higher studies: Make some connection with those who are already there - and learn from their mistakes and accomplishments. I did lots of google searches and contacted them thru emails subsequently - always beleiving when they can do it why can't I. I already had classmates and seniors who had studied at Oxford, Carnegie mellon, UCLA among others --but none at Harvard or MIT or Stanford - when I thought of applying abroad. The only connection I had at Harvard was Rajneesh Hazarika from Assam -who did give me some advice over email.

I must admit that before I came to US the only Univ in US I had connection with was Univ. of Maryland, College Park - where my mentor (of college days at Delhi Univ. incl the hostel) Sadanand Tutakne did his MA (Eco) but had to leave for India without completing his PhD since his profs did not consider extending his schol. after three years (he hadd spent 1.5 years deciding on his research topic while trying to work with some world famous economist). http://www.bsos.umd.edu/econ/jmarket/tutakne.htm

http://www.emcentre.com/Html/Mrinalini%20Titakne.htm (his wife -she did seemed quite confident when I talked to her -to talk to him -in June 2004)

Even before I came to US in Sep 2004 - I somehow contacted him - he advised that I do not go - since I would not be able to repay my student loan - $40,000 seemed like a huge amount to him. He was THE top debater of Delhi Univ during his time there at Kirorimal College (KMC) and Delhi School of Economics (KMC)- and one of its top economics grads. He was one of the few who shared my views on the right - against those scores with socialist ideologies. Now he works at American Express -he got married in 2004 - as I learnt when I called him last while in India.

The job he got thanks to his classmate Pillai (at KMC and DSE) - who was at univ. of Florida and his Britain born Bengali girlfriend Trisha Sen had followed him there after DSE -to do a masters and PhD in school education. Now they are married and back in India after 10 years- now it seems she is with a colleague of mine Shweta Anand - from Harvard at http://www.idiscoveri.com/people_01.htm (her current job)

i tried to contact Satish Pillai and Trisha before leaving for USA -to seek their advice but it seems they still think that I am loco about a classmate of mine (and their friend) from college days. She is married -for long time now.
