This is really welcoming news. Hopefully the GOA and the Center will take
this seriously and make this a reality - ie *"Global companies are queuing
up to make a hub for their Asian agro businesses. "*

America's fruits major Del Monte is exploring ways to do big business out of
Assam and West Bengal.
It has stopped sourcing expensive pineapples from Hawaii and moved business
to Thailand. *The North East is the land of opportunities for India's food
processing sector.
*
Frito Lay and Dabur have already started tapping into the region. *Global
companies are queuing up to make a hub for their Asian agro businesses.
*
More than Rs 1000 crore has already come into West Bengal and the northeast
and the figure promises to keep rising.
As foreign interest grows so do the challenges. The food processing industry
is concerned of skilled labour and the government is trying to set up a
national food processing school.
