[Assam] Newspapers on holiday too?

I was trying to get the 'latest' so tried to get the AT and the Sentinel
online, and I was only getting yesterday's editions (Oct 1). It was only
then I realized that Oct 2 is Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary and its a
national holiday.
Well, thats good - so I thought maybe (at least) the TOI or HT may have Oct
2 editions, and sure enough they do. In fact, everyother newspaper worth its
salt (in India) has Oct 2 editions.
So, what is the deal here?
Are the newspapers (and generally other offices) in Assam more patriotic
than those Dilli or UP wallas that even the media will take a day off
(wonder about hospitals and the fire services) or is it just that this just
another 'bandh day'? Who knows? All one can say is that in this technique of
taking off at the drop of a hat, Assam takes the cake.
