                                        Freer Centennial Event: Saturday, Oct. 7, 8 a.m.- 10 p.m.     

    Freer and Sackler Galleries open 8 a.m. - 10 p.m. 
           YOGA ON THE MALL WITH JOHN SCHUMACHER   Yoga Demonstration
8 a.m., Mall

  All skill levels, from beginner to advanced, are welcome to join. Bring a blanket or mat to use on the National Mall in front of the Freer Gallery.

Leading the class will be John Schumacher, founder and director of Unity Woods Yoga Center, with assistance from DC Yoga Week Association. Meditation led by Hugh Byrne. 
  Tai Chi Introductory Workshop
9 a.m., Mall

  Led by Warren Conner of Tai Chi Center of Washington, D.C.

  Martial Arts Demonstrations 
10 a.m., Mall 

  Instructors from Potomac Aikido and Wong Chinese Kung Fu lead demonstrations. 
  
"YOGA and MARTIAL ARTS DEMONSTRATIONS" will be canceled in the event of rain. 

The rest of the events will proceed as scheduled.

  Learn to play Asian board games and take a copy of a game board to color and play with at home. 
  Lotus Lights for the Full Moon
6:30-8:30 p.m., Freer courtyard and plaza 
  In keeping with the Asian tradition of celebrating the autumnal full moon, participants make paper origami lotus flowers to float in the Freer courtyard garden pool and then decorate the front of the Freer with lotus flower lights.

           JAZZ AND SACRED MUSIC   Spirit of the Fes: Sacred Sounds from East and West
12 p.m., Meyer Auditorium

  More than twenty musicians from South Asia, North Africa, Europe, and the United States recreate the atmosphere of one of the world's great musical gatherings. This event is presented in cooperation with the Embassy of Morocco.

Free tickets available at the door beginning one hour before each event, or in advance through Ticketmaster (www.ticketmaster.com).

  One of New York's most innovative jazz artists performs a blend of South Asian and Western improvisation.
