Dear Maina, Pompy and Dhon,

That was a touching tribute.

I can only imagine your pain and loss, untimely and unwarranted.

My heart too, like so many wonderful
Assamnetters, goes out to you and your mother.
Just like my heart goes out to all those unnamed,
unimportant children whose fathers' lives were
taken by those who are there as protectors in our
godforsaken land; the only difference being that
they are not articulate enough to express it and
there is nobody to forward their grief to the
internet.

I hope you will grow up to be strong and
righteous people, and will do your part to build
a fair and upright society, that does not help
breed and give succor to the kind of social
upheaval to which you lost your dear father;
unlike those whose righteousness are selective
and contribute little.

That will be a fitting and lasting tribute.

Wishing you and your family the best.

>> Tribute In loving memory of our father — Harendra Nath Das
>> “He was our bread, when we were hungry
>> He was our shelter from troubled wind
>> He was our boat in life’s ocean.....”
>> Our days always started with him and ended with him. He was like a pillar
>> to us. We always depended on him for every single thing, no matter how
>> trivial. He gave us everything we ever wanted. He gave us a whole world of
>> love and happiness. We never knew what sadness was. The whole thing seems
>> so unreal, so nightmarish. One moment he was laughing and singing with us
>> and the next moment, he was gone. Why??
>> What was his fault?
>> What did he do to anyone?
>> He was cold-bloodedly murdered — shot at gunpoint with no second chance.
>> Why?.....
>> He was such a nice men — loved and respected by everyone who met him. But
>> they still killed him — and us along with him.
>> A brave man — that is what he was. He sacrificed his life for us — his
>> family. He went away so silently, so quietly...
>> He woke up every morning with the alarm bell — singing ‘Wake me up when
>> September ends...’
>> Look at the irony — it’s the end of September and he’ll never wake up
>> again...
>> How can we forget the way he used to keep looking at us with love in his
>> eyes. He may have had a stern face, but we knew that no matter what wrong
>> we did, he would never scold us, never spank us... because he loved us too
>> much. He gave us all the freedom in the world because he believed we would
>> never cross the borderline...
>> He was a strong man who looked at death in the eye. He didn’t tell us,
>> even once, of the inner turmoil he was going through. That is him. He
>> looked away all the sadness, all the tension and gave us all the love in
>> the world. He is someone, who, we will never see again and yet never
>> forget...
>> Deta,
>> Wherever you are
>> We just want to tell you that —
>> We love you and we miss you....
