Very bad success rate : 78 suicide bombing attempts and only 200 dead-- they should make it worse -- for every 100 such attempts there should be only 98 casualties -of those who attempt it :-)

good point about development work need -- I imagine if the Anti-terror alliance had spent the majority of money on development work rather than anti-missile space programs etc -- each Afghani would have received atleast $1,000 in edu and development aid (if just $27 billion were spent on the 27 million Afghanis ) --and maybe I would have had got a job doing that (thats what I came to DC for last year -looking for such a job). There would then have been one job for every one of the applicant -for development related skilled jobs (where currently there are 300 applicants for each Afghan based job).

The local skilled professionals chose to become car drivers and interpretors for the well paying western NGOs --rather than do development work (since the pay was better as a driver than a teacher or edu reformer -and more readily available jobs) Even in US it seems to be the case though.
  Any takers for such jobs?
  Umesh
