Mukul-da,

My query : the suggetsion of allopathic doctors prescrining Ayurvedic medicine seems to emanate from the pscyhe of some top Assamese intellectuals --is this also the suggestion which Gauhati Medical College's director would give. If so --is that the reason GMC's recognition by IMA (Indian Medical Association) is in danger all the time?

Would he rethink hospital life like Dr.Albert Schweitzer practiced in Gabon?

Would he comply to the following suggestion?
Ramakrishna Mission Doctor Suggests Allopathic Doctors Prescribe Ayurvedic Medicine

Would he force Sorkar to decentralize hospitals-MOVE to remote places-to which the Sick Of Cities will flock to get cured?

Will he try and succeed in convincing/practising that doctors/midwives should revert back to family visits instead of the other way round. After all the telecoms/E-medicine age is already here

He steps down to lead global edu reform in medical education.

Maybe he will solve the following problems in medical schools across the world.

I am surprised that nonUS/Canadian doctors are not considered doctors here (they have to take USMLE and do residency again (in Canada one guy from Iran has been made to do whole medical school again --as if he knows nothing-- studying at www.ubc.ca ) - but its true that the medical field is a critical field and false moves can result in death of patients (us)etc.

Even doctors trained in other developed countries (like UK, Switzerland, Australia , Japan etc) have to take the USMLE and do 3 year residency/practical training inside a hospital.

BTW: Is Gauhati Medical College being bailed out by state govt?

PS: My first (as guest of my host's husband) class at medical school was in Vancouver recently on Medical communication at www.ubc.ca -- so important--its a matter of life and death (there I also found before leaving Canada that recently a friend's friend's girl friend died of Tuber Culosis TB - in USA --she was a head nurse --and her doctors and she could not communicate enough with them to convince them of the seriosness of her ailment. Within five days of finding out that she had TB she died).
