Hi everybody,

Can we think of making a student help line so that we can help our young students at the time of their need in whatever way we can.

Nowadays a good number of students are coming out of Assam to study abroad. I know many students even at their UG levels are going out to US, Australia and UK for pursuing their highr higher studies.

I my Gauhati university, I personally encourgaae our students to go abroad and see the world around.

The parents/students very often approach us for getting some kind of help even to get easily familiar with the situation in their first arrival or seeking some advices how to keep in touch with our own people abroad.

I know a case of a young IITg research student Sri Devanka Pathak from Avayapuri who was coming to the Univeristy of Cardif, UK for the first time had to spend a sleepless night at the London Heathrow Airport as he did not like to move to Cardif on that night. I was in India then, he wanted help from anyone who could say him hello in the airport on that night, but I could not refer him to anyone as people are terribly busy I know.

Even when I needed help for getting accommodation, only a PHD student Sri Basanta Ranjan Boruah from Imperial College Sc anf Technology, London immediately volunteered to arrange my accommodation and he did it for me. Yes, a student can offer help.

This is just a thought coming to my mind.
