[Assam] What a shame

Who is going to run a test on Momy Saikia? I do not believe the person with this email address is who she portrays herself to be. I may be wrong but prove me wrong. I am ready to say sorry if I am wrong.
The reason for my writing is simple - I hate pseudo names and charades in the net. We don't have the time or the energy for that.

Hi Momy:

I was disappointed to read your note on the disappointments of your own.

Allow me to share a little observation of mine, with the hope that you will take a moment of your precious time to ponder: "Expectations is the mother of all disappointments!" Is it catchy or what? Remember you heard it here first :-).

The point is that you had expectations of assamnetters; does not matter if they are realistic, meaningful, useful, or otherwise. And since those were not met, you are leaving the forum, in a huff, waving your own virtues, imagined or real,
for others to see and go --Wow! What a young lady of action she is!

But I understand. Most do. We have seen them all here. Good news however is that you are young, and hopefully still open to learning new tricks unlike some old us old dogs. And it is NOT a beauty contest here -- to prove what a hot-s--t one is or not :-).

New tricks? Indeed. You have shown how naive you are about some of your assumptions, beliefs and expectations, from the few notes you posted here. I won't go into details now, but if you would like for me to, I will be pleased to take them up for discussion at a later time.

But that is nothing new. You are not alone in your naivete. We have all been there. Again good news is that we can shed them. How? Yes, by talking. By
debating, discussing and deliberating and by paying attention.

You may ask: But isn't that a waste of time? Aren't you guys just blowing air, accomplishing NOTHING?

Well, it would be, IF that is ALL we do.

See Momy, discussing and debating the issues we do, is NOT mutually exclusive of doing something concrete.

That is what you fail to recognize. Again, no harm done. You have a lot of time to learn.

Many netters do many things--for their own betterment and for others' too. Not all talk of their actions or contributions. And besides, there is ALWAYS a whole lot more to the persona of these people than what their posts in assamnet may indicate. It will do you good to be aware of that.

What is important to recognize however, is that those who know better, or are expected to know better--people like yourselves, cannot and must not remain smug in your own righteousness, your self-image of a person of action, like you assert. For if you do, you will be NO DIFFERENT from those who you perceive, albeit on scant and superficial evidence of assamnet posts, to be mere hot-air blowers, or having little to contribute towards what YOU consider meaningful. What is meaningful can come in many, many forms.

Another thing is that, we know, often a new member would leave in a huff, because netters' criticisms/comments hurt their sense of what they hold dear: Often myths associated with their realities or their beliefs. And being unable or unwilling to articulate a defense of their own values and views, they would cite others' 'egos' or pro-this or anti-that or full-of-hot-air-ness. This is the quintessential "Urohi-gosor-wrtw-onyo-korbat" syndrome. There is only one cure for it: SPEAK UP, defend what you believe. You will be surprised, that you CAN educate others. And we will all be the better for it.

Gave you an earful, didn't I :-)?

Take care, and whether you return to assamnet or not, all the best to you and yours.

Hi All,

I have observed that all of you registered on this site are very pro active
in picking up national and international topics and carrying on a wide
discussion pertaining to them. Some of you are even so critical about the
NRIs or the government, so on .. the list is endless....

And the events organized in London, its a shame that not all Assamese in UK
are even aware of them.....And Mrs Rini Kakati , whom I sent a mail
introducing myself replies to me saying she is very busy and can't complete
a mail to someone who is seeking acquaintance with people from home... Very
disappointing that the same lady has time to post her "opinions" on the
site. Mere ignorance is what I recieved from a lady who is apparantly
"holding up the flag of Assam in UK".....Look outside the "site", we don't
even know you that well.....

When I replied to Mr Jogen's mail (Student helpline) stating that I am
willing to help the aspiring students of Assam by building a website so that
we can all contribute our experiences (if nothing else) through the web
portal, none of you seem to further discuss it or offer any kind of help
from your end. Discussing on big issues is easy but taking a very small
action becomes difficult, isn't it????

Its a shame really and for those who criticize the politicians, just know
that you are the same kind....u could only speak but can't initiate an
action which is why there are no results!!!!!

Assamese in London are investing time and money on stars like Zubin Garg,
who is already popular and well set on his career. He doesn't need anymore
propaganda through Zee Tv or other channels as Bharat ki janta has already
acknowledged his talents.

Help those who really need some help.....and put your words into action to
counter all your resentment.

Momy

NB: I believe in actions over discussions. No discussion is as great or
effective as a small action. So i am withdrawing from this forum. For the
great minds who is investing their precious time and ideas in keeping "only
this site alive"...All the best.........For those who have atleast tried
acting on their words and not just propaganding their thoughts through the
site, Good going guys and keep up the spirit and try to influence people
from the other category!!!!
