* 'AAMSU' : Whom does this Organisation Represent ???*
**
**
Dear Sir,
I read the news 'AAMSU takes a dig at Samujjal over migrants issue'
in *'The Assam Tribune'* on Sunday, July 29, 2007. However, the reporter
ordained for the job left out the most important point of the meeting. In
the gathering before the media, the general secretary of the All Assam
Minority (?) Students' Union (AAMSU), Azizur Rahman made a historical
announcement, *'The AAMSU would drive out the Assamese from Dhubri, Goalpara
etc.'*
*That means, the AAMSU is not an organisation formed by the
Assamese.*It is based on religious lines and speaks for the illegal
migrants from
Bangladesh. To say in a clear cut way, the AAMSU represents Bangladeshis who
have proliferated like disease germs all over the state. Also, by mentioning
the above districts, the AAMSU has proved that, the Bangladeshis are no
longer 'minorities' in these areas of Assam. As such, its better the AAMSU
shed its fake name and take up the one as ---*Bangladeshi Students'
Union operating from Assam (BSUOFA).*
In the days of Monarchy and Village Councils, the kings or
the gaonburahs made sure that the few migrants who happen to enter the
kingdom or village take up the religion and culture of the adopted land.
But, the so called 'Democratic' form of government has led to the other way
round in Assam. Successive governments, be it Congress, AGP et al have been
instrumental in appeasing illegal migrants who are now ready to gobble up
the original culture of the region and drive away the natives.
Also, I would like to question the so called intellectual
section of the Assamese Muslims who have been staying in Assam since last
200 years. Where does their loyalty lie --- in religion or in their homeland
? Why is it that no Assamese Muslim speaks up against Bangladeshi migrants
? Isn't their culture alien to them ? Or, they have a herd mentality for
being Muslims ? I have several Assamese Muslim friends. But, I find that,
they appear quite different when in a crowd. They lose their individual
cultural identity when it comes to religion.
Yours truly----
An Observer,
Guwahati.
