*** There was a reason for my asking the question : To see if there
was a point to it all. For example to be able to generate a
meaningful debate and discussion about how to manage the problem. I
say manage, be cause we know that a solution is almost impossible.

And why us? Why not the " experts" that our folks elect, select and
turn over the responsibility of governing?

I would submit they have failed miserably. Even though the intellect
is there, it is left useless by a systemic and cultural dysfunction.
Besides, who better than those of us who can look at the issue both
from the perspective of a native as well as an immigrant/ex-pat and
are witnessing how other countries are dealing with it--first hand?
Lastly, but certainly not the least, these netters do indeed
represent a concentration of some of Assam's best minds, when they
are able or willing to exercise them that is.

The last caveat was to underscore the argumentative repetitions
carrying on for eternity, but without any focus, without an aim. Even
with pointed questions they are unable to say what they are trying to
prove, or disprove.

I am pleased to serve as the lightning rod :-). But unfortunately ,
it is not about me.

>fully well we are >helpless

*** The fact is that YOU are not helpless, unless you wish for some
saviour like Delhi based masters coming to your aid riding a donkey.
Assam has only itself to depend on. And you , and you, and you--are
Assam's only assets. So, if you plead helplessness, imagine how the
rest feel!

*** Similarly on the ULFA issue. Wailing to no end, or to try and
prove my logic wrong will not take anyone anywhere. I already know
the response of the simple minded lot -- what are you doing?

Well, that is a deep subject. If they don't know by now, they never will.
