[Assam] Ashok Saikia dead

Most sad news early in this morning! I know him and met him personally when he was an young dynamic IAS officer on probations as ADC Darrang and posted in Mangaldai in 1972s.Due to him then undivided Darrang Dist had lot of developement, specially sports activities.He himself was a badminton and TT player.He was Bajpayees close aide and then gone to ADB Manila, replacing Dr Jayanta Madhab.
  I never met him later in life and only carried a hope to meet one day.....But...
  My deep condolence to HIS departed soul.We lost one of the most powerful and efficient assamese IAS officer.
